WANA (Apr 01) – In a phone conversation between the Presidents of Iran and the Prime Minister of Iraq, both sides emphasized the implementation of bilateral agreements and the need to counter divisive efforts in the region.

 

On Tuesday noon, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian held a telephone call with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani, extending Eid al-Fitr greetings and wishing acceptance of prayers for the Iraqi people and officials. Pezeshkian reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Baghdad across various fields.

 

Highlighting the importance of unity among Islamic nations, he stated that Tehran is determined to fully implement its agreements with Iraq. He stressed that strengthening bilateral relations and collaborating with neighboring and Islamic countries would help neutralize the enemies’ attempts to sow discord in the region.

 

Prime Minister Al-Sudani also congratulated the Iranian President, the people of Iran, and the Supreme Leader on Eid al-Fitr. He expressed hope that joint efforts between the two nations would foster greater brotherhood and cohesion among Islamic countries.

 

Emphasizing the need to strengthen friendly ties between Baghdad and Tehran, Al-Sudani referred to the sensitive regional situation, asserting that the unity of the two countries would reinforce their positions against threats. He declared that the Iraqi government and people have always expressed solidarity with Iran and will stand by the country against unjust ambitions. The Iraqi Prime Minister also expressed confidence that the Islamic Republic of Iran, under the leadership of its President and Supreme Leader, would successfully overcome the challenges ahead.
